Welcome to the Walhalla Chapter
Walhalla, SC
South Carolina Society
Daughters of the American Revolution
The DAR, founded in 1890 and headquartered in Washington, DC, is a volunteer
women's service organization dedicated to promoting patriotism, preserving
American history, and securing America's future through better education for children.
Any woman is eligible for membership who is no less than eighteen years of age
and can prove lineal, bloodline descent from an ancestor who aided in achieving
American independence.
We are located in Walhalla, South Carolina, and would love to
talk to you about becoming a member of the
Society. Our chapter was founded in July 1916, with 16 members. We are now in our 88th
year, and have 78 members. Chapter members reside throughout Oconee
County, and we meet 8 months of the year with a variety of historic, patriotic, and educational programs.
The Walhalla Chapter is a congenial group of both long-term residents and more recent "transplants."
